Welcome to the Big Easy aka New Orleans, Louisiana ! NoLA will always have a special place in my heart. This is hands down one of my favorite city’s in America due to its unique culture, history, food, drinks, art and of course jazz music. Before I get into some of my favorite recommendations to visit throughout New Orleans I would like to share a little history surrounding the city.
New Orleans was founded in 1718 by French colonist and was the territorial capital of French Louisiana then ruled by the spanish for 40 years before becoming apart of America in 1803 due to the Louisiana purchase. Although NolA is not the oldest city in the states it does claim to be the most haunted city of all 50 states. If you have the time and would like to explore around the french quarter I suggest you check out this guided tour at
www.frenchquarterphantoms.com/ghost-and-vampire-tour
this a great way to explore the city and view some of the orginial architecture still intact that dates back to the 1700’s . The tour is 2 hours in length and while you may not believe in ghosts the true crime tour history they speak about is true and very interesting. For example my favorite part of the tour was the story of the Lalaurie mansion in the French quarter. If you’re a American horror story fan like me you will be familiar with the character Kathy Bates plays (Madame Delphine) in season 3 “The Coven”. This portion of the tour dives into all the facts of what actually happed at the Lalaurie mansion. Not to mention you also do a little bar hopping throughout hehe you know I love a good cocktail!
Now lets talk food baby! Don’t be calorie counting in New Orleans they are known for their creole cuisine and of course that fried gator🐊 ! Here’s a list of some of my favorite eats :
1.) Masperos- local favourite of creole cuisine
2.) Jacques-Iom’s - creole soul food and Neighborhoods favourite, expect a wait.
3.) Mandina’s- another amazing creole restaurant, great catfish poboys.
4.). Emeril’s- upscale New Orleans style food with luxury style dinning and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse creating dishes in the kitchen.
5.) Mothers Restaurant- the name says it all, a cafeteria style restaurant serving you popular southern favorite's made by mama.

To give you a little back ground information about this art instillation, its located 30 minutes from Tulum and playa del carmen. The cost price to enter is 20 USD per person and you can easily spend the whole day there and even enjoy dinner or lunch in their outside garden sanctuary. The structure was built by Eduardo Neira who is commonly referred to as “Roth” and he completed SFER IK in 2017 but he had not yet decided on its use until 2018 and opened it to the public. The main purpose of this museum was to combine contemporary art to coexist with nature. Every tree and plant you see through out the exhibit had already existed there and SFER IK was built around the natural landscape. Upon entry its required you explore barefoot to be grounded with nature. Eduardo utilized help from local Mexican craftsmen from the town Francisco Uh May to help build this whimsical project. If you do decide to visit its open from 10am-6pm Monday through Sunday. Hope you enjoy the video - ciao Mila

Starting my morning off at one of the most beautiful cenotes I have ever been to! There are over 6,000 cenotes in the Yucatán peninsula, this one (Suytun Cenote) is by far the most impressive. I’ll be sharing a live tour of the cenote next week along with its history and visitation information.
To all my Narcos fans out there ! Want to stay in drug kingpin Pablo Escobars former mansion in Tulum!? Well now you can, this beautiful property has now been turned into a boutique resort perched between the Caribbean Sea and jungle in Tulum, Mexico. After Pablo’s death in 1993 the home remained abandoned until a art dealer, Lio Malca, from New York purchased the property and re renovated it into this gorgeous hotel in 2012. Lio incorporated his own personal art collection into the property and redecoration of the hotel. It’s like walking through a art museum. Here’s a few clips of what the property is like now. I’ll be sharing a OFTV video next week for a full tour of Casa Malca, can’t wait to share my experience with you guys! - chow Mila 💗
